Spotted Moth was created in the winter of 2010 by Monica Burnett.
We opened our online doors in the Spring of 2010 and our first brick and mortar location in August of 2011.

A born entrepreneur, Monica always had a knack for combining creativity and business.
At the tender age of nine, Monica remembers being pulled out of class by her teacher to be reprimanded for selling handmade jewelry to classmates.
Forgoing college, Monica sought out work experience to prepare her for her dream career.
She received notoriety working as a fiber artist, spinning yarn and crocheting hats and headbands. Monica's work was featured on Nickelodeon's Zoey 101 and iCarly.

Monica worked as an apparel buyer at a vintage store and later at a high-end women's boutique.
She launched an apparel line with her best friend, featuring vintage inspired dresses in quirky prints. She drafted and handmade every item in the collection.

With a hearty background in buying and selling, Monica launched Spotted Moth to an audience of style hungry-vintage loving-affordability seeking-creative women.
Teaming up with popular fashion bloggers, Spotted Moth became a go-to online shopping destination in no time. Spotted Moth has been featured in People Magazine's style issue as one of their favorite affordable online fashion destinations, and multiple times in Bust Magazine and Time Out NY Magazine.

We are proud to be a small family run business, operating in Southern California.
Monica oversees every aspect of the company, while her little sister Christina operates the shop in Orange, and her mom Candee packages all of the web orders.
